Repair Capabilities

What We Fix

From simple board replacements to full structural overhauls, our repair team handles every type of used pallet damage.

Common24 hours

Broken Deck Boards

Cracked, split, or snapped top or bottom deck boards are the most common pallet damage. We remove the broken board and replace it with a matching piece of the same thickness and wood type.

Moderate24-48 hours

Split Stringers

Stringers (the long boards that run underneath) can split from forklift impact or overloading. We reinforce or replace split stringers to restore full load-bearing capacity.

Common24 hours

Missing Blocks

Block pallets can lose their corner or center blocks from impact. We fabricate and install replacement blocks that match the original specifications.

Safety IssueSame day

Loose Nails & Fasteners

Protruding or loose nails are a safety hazard. We re-nail, replace fasteners, and ensure all hardware is flush and secure across the entire pallet.

Moderate24-48 hours

Warped or Bowed Boards

Moisture exposure can cause boards to warp or bow. We replace warped boards to ensure the pallet sits flat and stacks safely.

Custom48 hours

Structural Reinforcement

Pallets that need to carry heavier loads than their original design can be reinforced with additional boards, thicker stringers, or metal plates.

Our Process

How Pallet Repair Works

01

Assessment

We inspect every used pallet and document the damage. Pallets are sorted by repair complexity.

02

Sorting

Pallets are grouped by damage type for efficient batch processing. Similar repairs are done together.

03

Dismantling

Damaged components are carefully removed. Reusable hardware is retained for reinstallation.

04

Replacement

New or reclaimed boards, stringers, and blocks are cut to specification and installed.

05

Fastening

All components are secured with pneumatic nailers. Every nail is set flush for safe handling.

06

Inspection

Repaired pallets undergo final quality check. Only pallets that meet our standards ship out.

These are real examples of how our used pallet repair service has saved our clients money and kept pallets out of landfills.

Warehouse Pallet Restoration

Before

A batch of 200 used GMA pallets with multiple broken deck boards, loose nails, and two pallets with split lead boards. The pallets had been in service for approximately 4 years and were scheduled for disposal.

After

All 200 pallets repaired to Grade B condition. Broken boards replaced, nails re-driven and reinforced, split boards replaced with kiln-dried lumber. Pallets returned to service within 48 hours.

Client saved approximately $1,400 compared to purchasing 200 new pallets.

Distribution Center Emergency Repair

Before

A distribution center received 500 used pallets from a supplier, 80 of which failed their incoming inspection. Issues included missing blocks, cracked stringers, and protruding nails.

After

Our team performed on-site repairs over two days. All 80 pallets were restored to specification and cleared for use in the facility automated racking system.

Client avoided $2,800 in replacement costs and zero production downtime.

Recurring Monthly Repair Program

Before

A food processing plant was discarding approximately 100 used pallets per month due to various damage types. The pallets were being replaced with new at full price.

After

Decision Guide

Should You Repair or Replace?

Not every pallet is worth repairing, and not every damaged pallet needs replacement. Here is how to make the right decision for different damage scenarios.

Damage TypeRepair CostNew Pallet CostRecommendationWhy
1-2 broken deck boards$2 - $4$12 - $18RepairSimple fix that restores full function at a fraction of replacement cost.
Split stringer (one)$4 - $6$12 - $18RepairStringer reinforcement is cost-effective and adds years of service life.
Loose nails throughout$2 - $3$12 - $18RepairRe-nailing is fast and inexpensive. No structural work needed.
3+ broken boards + split stringer$6 - $9$12 - $18RepairStill 40-60% cheaper than new, though approaching the threshold.
Multiple split stringers$8 - $12$12 - $18Consider bothRepair is still cheaper but the cost gap narrows. Consider pallet age and remaining lifespan.
Severe rot or mold throughoutNot feasible$12 - $18Replace + RecyclePervasive rot compromises structural integrity. Better to recycle and start fresh.
Complete structural failureNot feasible$12 - $18Replace + RecycleWhen the pallet has multiple critical failures, repair cost exceeds replacement cost.

Quality Guarantee

Warranty on All Repairs

Every used pallet we repair comes with our workmanship guarantee. If a repair fails under normal use within the warranty period, we will re-repair it at no additional cost. We stand behind our work because we use quality materials and proven techniques.

Our warranty covers the specific repair work performed — replacement boards, reinforced stringers, re-nailed fasteners, and any other repair we make. Normal wear and tear from standard pallet use is not covered, but repair failure is.

90-Day Workmanship Guarantee

All standard repairs are covered for 90 days from the date of return. If our repair fails under normal use — a replaced board splits, a reinforced stringer cracks, or re-set nails come loose — we fix it free.

Material Quality Promise

We use only quality replacement lumber that matches the original wood species and thickness. Replacement boards are kiln-dried and meet structural standards for pallet construction.

Free Re-Repair or Credit

If a warrantied repair fails, you have two options: we re-repair the pallet at no cost, or we issue a credit toward your next repair or purchase order. Your choice.

Recurring Client Extended Warranty

Clients on our recurring repair program receive an extended 180-day warranty on all repairs. This is our way of rewarding loyalty and long-term partnerships.

Common Questions

Pallet Repair FAQ

There is no minimum quantity. We will repair a single pallet if that is what you need. However, our service is most cost-effective for batches of 20 or more pallets, and free pickup and return starts at 50 pallets within the Raleigh-Durham metro area. For quantities under 50, you can drop off pallets at our facility or pay a nominal pickup fee.

Yes. Many pallets go through multiple repair cycles over their lifetime. As long as the core structure — stringers and a majority of the deck — is still sound, we can replace individual components and extend the pallet life further. There is no limit to the number of times a pallet can be repaired, though eventually the cumulative repairs may approach the cost of a new pallet, at which point we will honestly recommend replacement.

We primarily specialize in wood pallet repair. Plastic pallet repair is more limited due to the specialized equipment required for welding and molding plastic. However, we can assess plastic pallet damage and may be able to repair certain types of plastic pallet damage, particularly cracked or broken runner sections. For extensive plastic pallet damage, we recommend recycling and replacement.

Absolutely. When you bring us damaged pallets, you can specify the target grade you need them restored to — Grade A, Grade B, or simply functional (Grade C). Restoring to a higher grade requires more precise work and higher-quality replacement materials, which is reflected in the repair cost. We will always tell you upfront whether a pallet can realistically be restored to your target grade.

Pallets that we determine are beyond economical repair are automatically routed to our recycling program. The wood is broken down into mulch, biomass fuel, or other useful materials. The metal hardware is separated and sent to metal recycling. Nothing goes to a landfill. If you bring us a batch of 100 pallets and 85 are repairable, we will repair the 85 and recycle the remaining 15 — you only pay for the repairs.

Most damaged used pallets can be repaired for a fraction of the cost of replacement. Let us show you how much you can save.
